Afuyard
A small self-hosted computing lab.
What this is
Afuyard is a personal infrastructure project: a single repurposed workstation running Linux, containers and open-source software. It is used to learn how to operate services reliably on modest hardware — patching, backups, restore drills, monitoring and careful automation.
How it is run
- Ubuntu LTS with automatic security updates.
- Services run in Docker Compose stacks, defined as code and reviewed before deployment.
- Encrypted off-site backups, with a restore test every week.
- Outbound-only network access; no inbound ports are opened on the machine.
- An operations assistant that may only run a fixed list of reviewed maintenance scripts, with risky actions requiring human approval.
